Our Story
The Pilot’s Weather Map started as a simple class project.
My name is Logan, I’m a commercial pilot currently attending college at the University of St. Thomas, and the idea first took shape during an entrepreneurship course where we were challenged to build a real product from concept to launch. I wanted to create something meaningful to the aviation community — something that combined my love for flying with craftsmanship and design.
As a pilot, checking METARs and airport conditions is part of everyday life. Weather isn’t just background information — it’s decision-making, safety, and awareness. I began thinking: what if live aviation weather could exist beyond a phone screen? What if it could be displayed in a way that felt personal and tangible?
That question became the first prototype of The Pilot’s Weather Map.
What started as a school assignment quickly turned into late nights refining designs, testing materials, wiring LEDs, and engraving wood. The goal was simple: create a real-time aviation weather display that pilots would be proud to hang in their hangar, office, or home — and that families could use to feel connected to the skies their pilot flies in.
Today, each map is handcrafted to order, combining live aviation data with engraved wood and a clean, timeless design.
This business was built from the ground up — just like a flight plan — with careful preparation, attention to detail, and a passion for aviation.
And it all started in a classroom.
